How Did We Lose Touch with Human Connection?
“It’s not personal, it’s business”, the speaker told the audience, and “it’s an outdated idea to trade time for money if you really want to be successful.”
Last year as I was studying methods of creating an online business, these phrases came more into the foreground than ever before at business-building seminars I was attending, but they just didn’t sit right with me!
Was it really true that I should not see clients for healing sessions and continue with the personalized work that I was doing? The speaker continued with promoting this success model, that was obviously working for him and others in the online space, but was it really for me?
Where did the disconnect begin?
I began to ask myself, “where did the disconnect begin?” Why were we all being encouraged to embrace the thought that somehow connecting with each person individually was less valid? And I felt mostly concerned that this attitude was being embraced as an ideal and the ‘goal’ in order to be and feel successful.
As I put into practice the knowledge I was receiving, I knew I would have to set aside this particular advice and find my own path in bringing an offering of spiritual healing and growth to the online community because I would never be able to take the ‘personal’ out of my business.
No matter what, everything that comes from me has to have that personal touch. To me, to have a personal connection to someone, no matter if it’s in-person, long-distance, in my classes and my membership, or through my course, it’s always vital to me that I can establish a connection in some way with everyone. The biggest awareness to keep in mind in the online world is that there are real people sitting behind those computer screens and that each person matters.
That personal touch of connection is vital because everything that we do carries energy with it.
Therefore, it is essential to stay connected to our core and to what makes us human even as we expand our reach to include people from all over the world.
Remembering the Heart-to-Heart connection
To me, it is in those heart-to-heart connections we form, that the compassion we have toward each other, and the kindness we display within our interactions, makes the deepest impact. There are so many ways we can be distracted from this essential truth, yet they are false illusions if they result in us disconnecting from our own hearts and the hearts of others!
When I get to be in a session with one person, when she sits across from me and shares her life and most vulnerable moments with me and I have the honor to assist her through energy healing or hypnotherapy, there's nothing more rewarding than that.
To elevate someone’s life for the better, to truly affect change and healing within the duration of one private session, matters to me and I know I am not going to ever give that up just because it is now considered to be an outdated model for so-called success.
This is where life happens; it is in the connections that we form as humans! There is nothing more profound and wonderful than to shift one life at a time on a deep and profound level, it truly is the most rewarding feeling.
Staying connected throughout
When I created my online membership, Beauty Flourishing, I made a conscious choice to build in opportunities for connection and included several modalities on a monthly basis. I incorporated a guided meditation or contemplation, spiritual teachings, and an arts & crafts with a commitment to follow up with the women through Facebook Lives so that they would always have a sense of interaction with me, and they could ask questions and be encouraged throughout their spiritual journeys. This was not just a vital element for them, but truly vital for me as well, so I would also feel connected to these wonderful women that I care about. The community is thriving under this model!
Since my venture into the online world comes at a time when I am already established within myself and in my life, and I have gained a certain amount of wisdom, I feel slightly at an advantage to see these perspectives from an elevated view.
I can take the element of what is considered to be ‘success’ out of the equation and choose to see everything from my heart connection.
Everything is personal, and I will venture as far as to say that all other models are false illusions created to numb ourselves in the form of ignorance so we can disconnect from feelings of vulnerability!
Let us always be guided by our hearts and remain humble, kind, and caring! May we not lose sight of this while this world is so rapidly evolving and human connections sometimes take a back seat to technology and systems.
Love,
Silke
